Lengua Española: Peru

2018年01月28日 /

The Peruvian narrative has enormous prestige in Latin American literature. It was influenced by the Inca civilization and, later on, by Spanish culture. Since then, Peruvian literature has become more widely known. Internationally recognized authors from Peru include Mario Vargas Llosa, Alonso Cueto and many others exponents of children’s literature.

Peruvian literature is also well-known for its creativity. For instance, literary pieces have incorporated Peruvian gastronomy within its works. One of the greatest exponents of Peruvian gastronomy is Chef Virgilio Martinez, who owns “Central Restaurante”, known as the 5th best restaurant in the world.  From this success, he wrote a book where he features exotic ingredients from different altitudes across the Andes, Amazon and the coast, which reflect Peru’s rich geographic, cultural and culinary heritage. Another example is the creation of the concept of the world’s smallest handmade books; which add to the variety of works found in Peruvian literature.
